3487 South 1300 East
Salt Lake City, Utah 84106

History/Facts

• 26 years ago “Leadership Missionaries” were called from more affluent stakes in the Salt Lake Valley to assist in inner-city stakes.
• In 1996 a plea went out to save the inner-city without spending any money. The “Inner City Project was born.”
• The Inner City Project is the fulfillment of the plea of a Bishop who wrote: “ I can see an army of faithful Saints in our valley coming to the aid of our wards in this area, being the reinforcements needed to assist in bringing salvation to our members, and keeping our community.”
• The inner-city and its problems encompass more than just a few blocks in downtown SLC.
• Missionaries serve from Rose Park on the north to Midvale on the south and 1300 East on the east to Magna on the west.
• Presently there are approximately 600 service missionaries serving in 101 wards and 28 stakes in the SLC Area.
• Missionaries, currently serving, have been called from Park City to Tooele as well as many of the stakes in the Salt Lake Valley.
• At any one time there are probably 2500 – 4000 families being assisted by inner-city service missionaries.
• Service missionaries donate approximately 14,500 hours each month.
• A significant amount of sacred Fast Offering funds are preserved in this process.
